She's 3!

It's official, after many weeks of waiting the birthday is finally here! We celebrated with a Pinkalicious party which was very....Pinkalicious! We had fun, fun, fun! Happy birthday little girl!

I made the cake (giant cupcake) with a special cake pan my mother in law got me for Christmas. It was so cute.
The tutus were really easy, it's just strips of toole tied to an elastic waist band. They took just a couple of hours to make.
It's not in the pictures but she got pink sparkle converse shoes to wear today.
Way cute!

Heads Up

Last night, at about 3 A.M. my husband and I both sat straight up in bed after hearing a very loud series of thuds. After listening for a while in the growing silence, we realized it was this lovely icicle that had been hanging on the eves for several weeks, growing. We couldn't reach it with any of our tools and I wouldn't let my husband (not that he wanted to anyway) get up on the roof to attack it. Well, after a night of rain, it finally dislodged itself and provided a great photo op this morning. I'm so grateful it came down in the middle of the night and not during book club while ladies were coming and going. Ugh, that's all I need- to kill one of my new neighbors.

Long Gone

My oldest is going overnight tonight on a school function. He's gone on overnighters before but I have to admit that I'm spending a lot of time today wondering about how he's doing and if he's safe. I was relieved to find out that my two back door neighbors were accompanying them on their field trip. It's nice to know two of the parents who will be there.

I hope he behaves himself!

A Touch of....Bendaroos

My cute five year old son made these fun flowers for our refrigerator. I think it's adds a very fun touch to the kitchen. Nice job buddy!

On With The New

I told my hubby that I needed to get a new phone and downgrade the plan I had. I rarely use the email function because my current phone is a piece of crap. Well, guess what my hubby brought home for me today? An IPhone. Seriously? This is our idea of downgrading? Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked to have a phone that will actually send/receive Email, etc. but I think this is what happens when we put our other halves to work getting new gadgets.

I'd Give You The Moon

My husband took our daughter on a date last night. As they were getting ready My husband said "let's go to the moon."
He later told me that as they got out of the truck at their first destination, my daughter said "Daddy, is this the moon?"

Cute!

"GT"

For Christmas I gave my mom and sisters each a Good Turn Diary for Christmas. It's based on the short story by James E. Faust about a young man who, during the Great Depression, couldn't afford to give gifts to his family for Christmas so he instead kept a journal and each day made note of a good turn he did for someone else. On Christmas day he presented his father with the journal to show that he had spent the year doing good for others. I wanted to have that great experience also so I have been marking "GT" in my journal each day for a good turn that I have done. It's been great to perform small, sometimes random acts of kindness that I perhaps would have overlooked before. So here's my Good Force Challenge to all of you; do a good turn daily! They don't have to be grand gestures just small, simple kindnesses that we do because we are looking for opportunities to do good. It could be a lifting experience in heavy times.

Last night I had a funny conversation with my youngest son.

"Mom, do we speak French?"
"No, we speak English."
"What is French?"
"French is another language that people use in France."
"Can you say French?"
"No honey, I don't speak French. I can count to three in French and if you want to say 'yes' is French you say 'oui'"
"Oh yeah, Grandma has a Wii!"

I'm watching the Golden Globes and rather enjoying myself. I fully understand why they call it LA LA Land.

Grocery Savings

My sister in law (thanks Lettie) has taught me how to use a great website called Grocery Smarts and I am kicking butt on saving money at the store. This trip I spent 132.50 and saved 148.40! Not too bad for an hour of work! I have started a new blog (Yeah, I Clip Coupons) which I will update with my grocery spoils! Check it out!

It was a princess party day. Thanks Grandma for the pretty princess dresses!

Pop

Okay, so I have the zit from hell on my chin. I kid you not, it's got to be 1/2 an inch across! It was one of those, you-feel-it-before-you-see-it zits that come up but don't actually give you anything to work with. You know what I'm talking about! Well, maybe you don't or you've just forgotten because it's been 20+ years since you've had to deal with this. Can anyone say ANNOYING! I put the full blame on my children since everything on my body changed once I had them. It's a good thing they're cute or I'd have to sell them in order to pay for my skin care products.

UGH

Enough already!

The plan is to knock the snow off the roof tonight. It's looking a little scary.

Shout Out

I admit it, it's my own fault. I have sequestered myself in volunteer work and a new house. It seems I haven't seen many friends lately and I hope they haven't forgotten about me. So in an effort to reconnect, I've decided I want to have a Mama Mia party soon. Every one's invited. I'll be sending out evites with the day and time and instructions to wear a feather boa or sequins. I hope all of you are doing well!

Drop me a line some time!

Carry on, Carrion!

I was reading something the other day and came across the word "carrion". It was actually someones last name and I immediately thought that it was unfortunate for an individual to go through life with a last name that means "dead meat". Then it struck me that if this person only changed one letter, the name would read "carryon" which of course, separated, would mean to persevere. What a funny play on words. I mean really, wouldn't we all hope that '09 brings us the ability to persevere and not a feeling of dead meat!
